Today with the topic culture I would like to introduce to you a musician. A woman, which is at the moment a quite hot topic on Chios. She has her origins on Chios and is know Greek-wide.
I firstly got to know about her through her daughter, whom I taught while working here in the Chios’ school.

Pantelis Thalassinos

Pantelis Thalassinos is a Greek singer who was born in Piraeus in 1958. While his mother came from the island Serifos, his father was born on Chios. This is why the family moved to Chios when Pantelis was two years old. He went to school there and started playing the guitar at the age of seven, together with his brother Giannis. Their father's co-workers from the local yacht club taught them.

Nana Mouskouri

Do you know Nana mouskouri (Nάνα Μούσχουρη) ? She is a Greek singer well known in France. Her entire name is Ioanna Mouskhouri and she is born in 1934 in Crete.

She sings since her childhood but she started to study music at 12 years old at the Conservatory of Athens. At 28 years old she started her career thanks to Manos Hadjidakis, and 2 years later she went to Paris and lived there.
