Giosonas

In our radio we present you all the beautiful places Chios Island offers to its visitors. This time we’ll talk about another awesome beach. Its name is Giosonas – The name’s origin is the mythical hero of antiquity with the name Giasonas (engl. version: Jason). People say that this god passed the place during the Argonaut’s expedition on his quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece.

The beach with smooth pebbles and crystal clear water seems to be endless. The waters are deep blue or green, depending on the light and the time of day. Giosonas opens wide to the Aegean Sea and offers a restful and relaxing holiday. The location is pretty quiet, with few visitors, even during the summer time and it is especially ideal for those who prefer privacy and solitude.
In the surrounding area you will find many pine trees and on the west side of the beach a canyon, maybe the most stunning canyon of the island. A river of the same name flows from the canyon into the beach.

You will also see Mount Pelinnaio, with 1297 meters the highest mountain of Chios. Near by there is Nagos Beach, another beautiful beach of Chios Island and only 6 km away the village of Kardamyla is situated.
So don’t hesitate and visit this gorgeous place on one of the hot summer days you spend on the island of Chios. Maybe combine it with a trip to Kardamyla and enjoy the calm atmosphere at the beach of Giosonas with your dear ones.
