The Pantomime

Have you ever seen the people performing without speaking on the street? Have you ever tried to understand them? Do you know what it is? Yes, you are right. This is the Pantomime.

 

 

The mimes do not use the voice, they try to act out a story through body motions, only showing a performance using movement, body language and gestures. The pantomime is not dancing.
There are two types of pantomime. The first is comedy, the second moves serious topic and provokes reflections about our life.

The pantomime was developed in England and is performed in Christmas time. It has a long theatrical history in Western culture. The most famous and well-documented mime was Chaplin. But, the first mime who was recorded was Telestes. It was the play Seven Against Thebes by Aeschylus.
