The plastic Christmas tree

At the begining the Christmas tree were only at houses of rich people, because not everyone could afford for decorating of the tree, which was traditionally decorated with edibles such as apples, nuts or other foods.

The earliest artificial Christmas trees were wooden, tree-shaped pyramids or feathers of goose.
In the 18th century, it began to be illuminated by candles, which with electrification could also be replaced by Christmas lights.
Currently is one the most popular symbol of Christmas all over the world.

People form many countries believe that the more decorated Christmas tree, the happier and richer will be her owner in the upcoming year.

The first artificial Christmas trees were developed during the 19th century. That was a solution to prevent the deforestation. From this moment people didn't have to cut the real trees.
The plastic Christmas trees became more popular, because they are cheaper, lighter and more comfotable in use and transfer.


Can you imagine that in 2005, only in USA people spent over 65 milion dollars for the chinese Christmas trees. The biggest producent of artificial, plastic trees is located in the Pearl River Delta in China.
So do you think is it possible that the plastic tree is an invention of Greeks ?

False. The legend says that the first Christmas tree was decorated in Alsace, historical part of Germany and France. After that, the tradition came to the ancient Rome and Greece. Also in Germany was created the first plastic Christmas tree.
