Without Borders

The movie I would like to present you now has to do with immigration and racism. “Without borders” is partly crime, part weepy, pursuit and father/daughter story Written and directed by Nick Gaitatjis.

 

 

 


The movie told in flashback begins in the United States of America with scenes of a bloody shooting, a murder investigation, all in all our films hero is accused of murder. But don’t worry this mood is swept away pretty quickly. Thanasis is an old, but still good-hearted cotton candy vendor from Athens. Melissa is the daughter of an immigrant prostitute. Once the mother made the decision to leave the country and go abroad to start a new life in America- without her child. Finally it was Thanasis has been caring for the little Melissa since she was a baby. 5 years later Milla, the mother of the little Melissa, appeared again with a new husband and takes her child with her back to America. She takes Melissa away from Thanasis, with traumatic consequences. Melissa became in the last years something like his own child and also a comfort in his old age. For this reason he decides to travel to America, searching for her and see her again.

What he does not have: a visa, English language skills, much money, knowledge how to drive a car
And he has never been on an airplane.

What he has: a distant cousin named Plato, a professional gambler, living in Las Vegas, who offered him to help cross the border
But he never suspects that Plato could have a scheme of his own.

“Without borders” is a story about two disparate cousins from Greek starting a cross-country adventure. Their aim? To win the smile of a girl.
