Myrmigi

The small village with the name Myrmigi is located in the Southeast of Chios, 13 kilometers from its capital and part of the municipality of Ionia.

One of the many features of Myrmigi is its site, surrounded by a vivid flora including olive, mastic and various other kinds of trees. Worth visiting in Myrmigi are the numerous churches, like e.g the church of Agios Giannis, Agia Marina and Agios Paraskevi. The villages most distinguishable feature is the small medieval castle, which lies in ruins today. Also the Genoese irrogation works with an excellent designed stoned arch tunnel which leads to a former spring are quite spectacular, as well as the actual spring of Karaman Agas.

The village today hosts only 50 inhabitants, and its feast day is on the 17th of July.
