The Radiation

We have no doubts that Ernest Rutherford discovered the difference between alpha and beta radiation with his experiments in 1899. But why name them with Greek letters if there was no Greek involved?

Solution:
False! There was no Greek friend that might be the cause for this strange naming, and there are no real indicators about Rutherford's motivation for the name. However, it is known that Rontgen had already set a precedent for an alphabetical designation with the name "X-rays," and Rutherford, like many of his generation, had studied the Greek language.
