Troy

Troy is an American movie that was shot in the USA, Malta and England in the year 2004 directed by Wolfgang Petersen (from Germany). The idea of the movie was established by Homers Ilias but Petersen deflects from his view on the story in many aspects and focus mainly on the mystic fight of the Greeks with the Trojans.

Achilles is the strongest soldier of his period and seems to be invincible. He is seeking for fame and for this aim he stops at nothing.

The prince, Paris of Troy is together with his elderly brother as guests in Sparta to conclude a peace treaty after a long period of war. Paris and Helene, the wife of Menelaos, the king of Sparta, fall in love, so that Paris "kidnaps" Helene with her agreement when he and his brother Hektor are on their way back home. When Hektor gets to know about the stowaway he is really angry with his brother Paris because this action opens a new war between Troy and Sparta. None of the both parties concerned want to offer up something or even someone. In the following both parties are preparing themselves for the next big war, probably the biggest war ever.

The Greeks are able to occupy the cost side of Troy with the help of their strongest soldier Achilles. Some infightings are following on both sides like for example Achilles who denies his king to fight anymore or between the two brothers Hektor and Paris. The result is that the king Menelaos gets murdered by Hektor when he was trying to kill his brother Paris.  In the night the Greeks got attacked surprisingly by the Trojans and are just able to defend themselves after Achilles leads the soldiers.

Unfortunately under the armament of Achilles is his younger and unexperienced cousin Patroklos who gets murdered by Hektor who gets to know about this fact after removing the hat of Achilles. The next day, after also Achilles reached this information he dares Hektor to fight against him. In front of all Hektor gets murdered by Achilles who decides to take the dead body behind his horse- drawn carriage. In this night the king Priamos appears in the hostile environment to ask for his sons body. Achilles is profoundly touched and gives the dead body free, also the niece Briseis and bestows on 12 days without fighting so that they have enough time for the ceremony.

Odysseus, Agamemnon’s smartest follower creates a really clever idea how to defeat the Trojans permanently..
