Freeky Cleen - Outstation of Southern Rock

Freeky Cleen shoots you back to the southern rock and blues feeling that you expect along the Mississippi. Surprising is that Freeky Cleen is producing his music in the Ukraine.

The more surprising is to discover the fact that the southern rock band is a “one man band”. Freeky Cleen is indebted to his own sound and not to labels which refuse to record him.

Maybe especially this refusals kept the unique sound, which is build of classic blues concepts, the rock influence of the 1980s, the southern rock and last but not least his own musical ideas. By constructing and running his own recording studio and label, he kept his musical independence.

Next to this independence, recording songs with friends and musicians, who also feel connected to the roots of our modern rock music, creates a great spectrum of songs around the legacy of the blues/rock.

Songs like “Mean mother's boogie”, representing the classic blues are dominated by the electric guitar and highlighted by the blues harmonica. “Summer City Blues” and its rock n roll feeling reminds of a mix of ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The straight rock n roll patterns on the one hand but also the rock licks supported by the wind section on the other hand create this unique sound of Freeky Cleen.

All in all the one man band “Freeky Cleen” is a great outstation of the southern rock genre in Kiev, which is at least comparable to his “musical relatives” or even better.
