Sea Urchin

Whenyou see this article you might be surprised, sea urchins, why are they in culture?

 

You probably assume sea urchins are only good for being avoiding in the sea and providing painful stings. This couldn’t be further from the truth; they are a delicacy in almost all countries that are in close proximity to the sea with a large population eat them and are even considered an expensive delicacy. Of course only a small part can be eaten, the reproductive organs of this animal, they are called gonads. It can be used for different dishes but most commonly it is eaten raw like sushi.

 

How to prepare:

Put it upside down in a bowl of water and use a pair of scissors to cut an opening all the way around the mouth.

Pull off the part of the shell that was attached to the mouth to reveal the gonads, now spill out the liquid inside the urchin.

Use tweezers to remove any leftover organs except for the Gonads.

Now use a spoon to carefully spoon out the gonads.

 

This delicacy is done and can be eaten form here on.
