The Greek Myths

Let's talk about the book entitled « The Greek Myths » published in 1995 by the author Robert Graves. He was a British poet and historical novelist.

By his birth name Robert von Ranke Graves he was born in 1895 in Wimbledon, England where he grew up and studied Irish mythology. In 1995, The Greek Myths was released into two tomes. We can find many well-known stories like the ones of the great Olympians, the tale of Troy and much more. It is a compendium of Greek mythology with comments and analyses by Graves himself. But his work is very criticized by classicists because of the unconventional interpretations he does of the myths.

Full references to the classical sources, and copious indexes, make the book as valuable to the scholar as to the general reader; and a full commentary on each myth explains and interprets the classical version in the light of today’s archaeological and anthropological knowledge.

Ideal for the first time reader, but also those who seek an more detailed and worked out approach The Greek Myths is perfect for everyone and a classic among classics.
