Deaglos

Welcome back on Chiosradio.gr - today we are back with another episode of creatures from hellas. As always I will discribe a creature and at the end oft the article you can guess wheater I made this creature up or if it is acutally part of the greek mythology.

The creature I want to present you today is named deaglos. The deaglos is a hybrid between dog and eagle. It has the body of a large dog, long, thick fur and the long, elegant wings of an eagle. It has long and unusually large teeth, a large mouth and long claws. Due to the two animals from which it descends, the Deaglos has on the one hand an excellent nose and can smell its prey at great distances and on the other hand he has the eyes of an eagle, which enables it to search the ground from high above in the air for other animals.
The Deaglos can only be found on mountains from an altitude of over 1500 meters, as it prefers cold environments due to its thick fur. He often lives in large caves reaching deep into a mountain, in which he spends the night and most of the day. The Deaglos comes out of his cave almost only for foraging. He then flies at a considerable height above the ground and looks for smaller animals such as chickens, mice, rats and other little victims.
The Deaglos largely stays away from humans. They don't match his prey scheme and he would only attack them for self-defense. However, if a person treats him with respect and awe, the deaglos is quite ready for coexistence.
