Nemean Lion

The creature I will present to you today is called the Nemean lion. This monstrous lion had golden fur and claws sharper than swords. It lived in a cave near Nemea and terrorized the nearby villages until it was finally killed by Hercules.

Hercules first tried to kill the creature by shooting arrows at him. But as the fur the lion was invulnerable it protected the beast from being hurt. After Heracles found out that there was no possibility to kill the lion with any of his weapons he waited until the Nemean lion returned into his cave. The special thing about this cave was the fact, that it had two entrances.  Heracles blocked one of these two entrances and entered the cave afterwards. There he managed to kill the lion by strangling it with his bare hands. Afterwards he returned from this fight wearing the lion’s fur on his shoulders.
