...there are flying cars?

Everybody of us has his own image of how the future will look like in a couple or even in 100 years. The classic version/picture of our future shows huge, glassy buildings, intelligent machines facilitating our daily life as well as “flying cars” floating over our roofs.

Moreover, many science fiction or future movies represent diverse examples of how our future can look like. Even there, “flying cars” have a big role like in the movie “Road Runner 2080” or like in the pretty famous movie “Back to the future 2”. As you probably know, currently you have the opportunity going from a to b by plane only. But what if we will have “flying cars” soon? And which kind of influence will it have on our living standard, infrastructure and environment or is it even possible to build such a vehicle?

We definitely need to be aware of creating and building such a flying vehicle needs a lot of effort which has to fly and be suitable for our daily use of anyone concurrently. Therefore, we will go to our first difficulty: Many of us have a licence for driving a car or even a motorbike. However, it isn’t comparable to a licence for a plane because it exacts a lot of knowledge and skill. Everybody needs the knowledge of the rules and caring such a vehicle in order to ensure everybody safeness.

Therefore, maybe it is even possible to create a specific airline system which is quite similar to our common road network like traffic lights, signs and “roads”. Obviously, these things must float in the air. We still have to create a new road traffic act to avoid accidents, but which still has to be comprehensible for anyone. Probably, accidents by “flying cars” are even worse in the air than on the ground. It would come to many deadly accidents caused by humans. Wrecks would fall to the ground or crash into structures.

Another important aspect is the funding of “flying cars”. The cars have to be affordable for anyone. Owning an own plane costs a lot of money. A reason for that could be the many technical equipment’s you need for flying such a vehicle. In my opinion, therefore only the upper class can allow buying a “flying car”, probably. But by creating cheap as well as a safe technic for the vehicles, everyone can buy a “flying car” in the future maybe.

Because we are dealing with the technical question already, I got the question in mind: How does the vehicle get his power from for moving forward? By petrol or electronically? Currently, all planes are operated by petrol. So, therefore, I think the “flying cars” get their energy by petrol as well. However, especially nowadays you notice that the car industry tries to switch from petrol to electronic which also reflects our future. Probably, the reason for that is: it is environmentally friendly because there is no CO2 emission while driving and you have less maintenance costs.

Based on these aspects, we will deal with the next important point: the environmental effects due to “flying cars “. Because we already came to the decision: “flying cars” will get their power by petrol probably. Accordingly, there will be a huge CO2 emission which would damage our environment a lot.

By the way, if you would just fly by plane from Munich to Athens, there would be an emission of 714kg CO2 by the plane. The huge emission CO2 would cause a rising of our temperature which will affect us, our animal species and ecosystem.

However, “flying cars” would benefit our comfort as well as transport possibility. We can dispense planes and we would be able to get faster to any kind of destination.

Accordingly, long distances could be managed just in few minutes. You don’t need your basic car anymore. Moreover, our industry and economic can also profit from the “flying cars”. Commercial goods can be export and import much faster and efficient. We would also be able to reduce chaos on streets caused by close and contorted streets.

In conclusion, if we have flying cars it would allow us arriving faster to any destination, bring us more comfort and we would strengthen our economy. However, it would also bring us many consequences: Our environment would suffer a lot because of the emergence of high CO2 emission. One solution for that could be to operate the flying cars by solar planes or electronically. But we still had to learn many new skills for flying such a vehicle. Perhaps, they can also drive by themself someday. So, it would have many disadvantages. But for the “bad” aspects you can still find a collective solution. Therefore, “flying cars” aren’t completely unthinkable in the future.

What are your thoughts about “flying cars”? Do you think “flying cars” will exist in our upcoming future?
