Club Sandwich

I know, I know, Club Sandwich? I know what you’re thinking: Doesn’t sound too Greek, right? But trust me, you will find this dish on nearly every restaurant menu in Greece.

I have always connected Club Sandwiches to Greece because when I was a child I never found a Club Sandwich at any place in Germany but every time that I went to Greece on holiday it was time to eat the next Club Sandwich again.

I loved a good Club Sandwich since I was young and the fact that I could always get one on my next Greece vacation really made me associate this dish with the country Greece itself even more.

There are many different variations of the Club Sandwich but today I will show you the recipe of what I would consider the “classic” Club Sandwich. It will literally only take you a few minutes to prepare it and then the delicious snack is served and ready to enjoy.

For that you will only need:

-          4 rashers of streaky bacon

-          3 slices of white or whole grain toast bread

-          1 tablespoon of mayonnaise

-          1 tomato (sliced)

-          5 slices of chicken breast

-          3 salad leaves

  1. Cook the bacon in a pan until it is as crispy as you like it. Meanwhile toast the  bread and put mayo on one slice
  2.  Put the tomato and the bacon on the slice on which you spread the mayo and then put the 2nd slice of bread on top. Now add the chicken breast and the salad leaves and put the 3rd slice of bread on top. Cut the Sandwich in quarters and secure each quarter with a little toothpick so it doesn’t fall apart.

And voila! The food is served. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
