Les Mémoires de Zeus

This weeks book is Les Mémoires de Zeus from the french author Maurice Druon. He was bord in 1918 in Paris and died at the age of 90 years old in 2009.

 

 

He began writing for literary journals at the age of 18. He is known as the nephew of the writer Joseph Kessel, with whom he translated Le Chant des Partisans, a French Resistance anthem of World War II. Druon was a member of the Resistance and came to London in 1943 to participate in the BBC's "Honneur et Patrie" program. He was a member of the Académie française, of which he served as chairman between 1985 and 1999.

It was in 2007 that Les Mémoires de Zeus was published. In this book, Zeus reminds us of his story, starting with the creation of earth, the union of Gaia and Ouranos and going through all the other important events of the greek mythology. You will find famous anecdotes known by everyone, like the twelve labors of Hercules but also some less commons ones.
