...we killed all the mosquitoes in the world

Mosquitoes are often called the deadliest animal in the world and that for a reason! There are more than 3500 types of mosquitoes in the world, some of them spreading deadly diseases like malaria and yellow fever.  Malaria alone killed more than 430.000 people in 2015.

So if we wanted to eradicate Mosquitoes, we first have to decide if we only kill the ones transmitting diseases or all of them.

Of course, Mosquitoes play a part in the food chain in our ecosystem and are food for many animals like frogs, fish and lizards. But according to some studies, if mosquitoes disappeared, the food chain might not even be affected too much. Since ecosystems are extremely complex, it is very hard to make any precise predictions.

If we killed all the mosquitoes, one effect would be, that all the people that would get infected with deadly diseases would now be able to survive. Many people are afraid though, that this would lead to rapid overpopulation and therefore lots of suffering.
This still is one of the major aspects being discussed.

All in all, killing all the mosquitoes in the world has unpredictable effects. Maybe many good things can be achieved by this, but maybe also the opposite might happen.
