...we only ate one type of food for the rest of our lives...

Is there food that you just can't get enough from? Something that tastes so good you could eat it every day?

Delicious meals like Pizza or a some chocolate might pop into your head. If it were reality that we could only eat one type of food for the rest of your life it might be smart to choose something healthier that contains more vitamins and nutrients.
You might think meat is a good choice. Meat is definitely rich in proteins and fats. However, it hardly contains carbohydrates which are responsible for giving you energy. Your body would try to find alternatives to receive more energy and consequently use your own muscle to achieve this goal.
Eating only Pasta or bread is not a better option as you would lack many Vitamins. The restriction of for example vitamin C would lead to a rare illness called scurvy. If you suffer from scurvy your body slowly degrades which can lead to death.
Not even healthier options like only one type of fruit or vegetable would be suitable to survive on. There is no vegetable that could provide enough protein for our muscles all by its self. You would have to combine multiple vegetables to have a balanced nutrient scale.
Dairy products, for example milk and cheese, would definitely fill your need of protein but excessive consume of dairy products would also lead to health issues like digestive problems.
Technically we could survive by drinking only human milk as it contains a bit of everything. Though it would be impossible for a mother to provide milk for the rest of our lives. Another disadvantage would be that the milk could only be consumed as a liquid. The lack of solid food would result in tooth loss and stiffness in the jaw muscles.
Fish is another alternative that might come to mind as it is known to have many minerals such as iron, zinc and magnesium. Yet even fish can be a risk to your health if you eat it excessively.
According to nutrient experts the only way to live a healthy life is to eat a variety of food products that combined would fulfil the humans nutritional needs. Having a variety of different types of food would obviously also please our taste buds!
