This week I would like to present you a very young Russian electro-pop band, XNOVA. I found them last week by accident and directly fell in love with their songs, so I thought our program ‘Band of the week’ is the perfect opportunity to share their story with you and give them more audience, which they deserve.

The band consists of Bogdan Yuryev and Marat Nugaev and was only formed last May, but they already met and made music together before that. They played in the bands Sunwill and Manhat10 and took part in multiple competitions together. With those bands, they also won the ‘Hard Rock Rising - Battle of the Bands’ in 2013. Another highlight of their musical career was the cooperation with the English synth-pop duo Hurts, with whom they performed live shows in Novosibirsk. Their music created together with those bands is still played in shops and markets all over the world.

Unfortunately, both bands were closed and Yuryev and Nugaev felt quite frustrated which made them move from Moscow to Siberia three years ago. After unsuccessful tries to find new band members for a new start, they decided to not longer wait for other artists but start as a duo and form the band I am telling you about today: XNOVA, a new chapter in their life.

Bogdan Yuryev and Marat Nugaev write, record and produce their music completely by themselves, always trying to find new interesting sounds that fits their current mood. They are not afraid to experiment and also try out new and unconventional combinations, like live instruments together with synths and electronic beats, which creates the unique and new sound I love and hope you like, too.

Their big passion is music and everything related to it, and they want to share their feelings with their listeners, help them in different situations or inspire them. As XNOVA is a really young band, they only released seven songs at this point, but are constantly working on new songs.
