Drawning attention through simplicity is the motto of this weeks' featured band. Julie and Gent, a Brasilian duo, deliver purposefully simple and light sound, as they describe their music. Their general genre is folk and pop.

In 2015 the two musicians, Júlia Gutierrez and Gentil Nascimento, founded their band in the city of Belo Horizonte in Brasil. Gentil is a musician and former drummer of another band, Júlia a singer and songwriter. The compositions of them are filled with American folk influences and their alternation voices are often accompanied by harmonica, banjo and percussion.

The band's first EP, "Partners in Crime" was already released in 2016. Its four songs were well praised by the local critic. A year later they started recording their first album "The convenience of fate", which was released in 2018. All ten tracks of it can be listened to on Jamendo.com. The mentioned simplicity is a major charakteristic of Julie and Gent's music, one that makes it very pleasant to listen to.
