Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

The movie Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is both a Prequel as well as a Sequel of the movie Mamma Mia! The Movie which was released in 2008. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was released ten years later on July 16th 2018.

 

The movie was written and directed by Ol Parker and is based on a story of Parker, Catherine Johnson and Richard Curtis. Like in Mamma Mia! The Movie, songs by ABBA have been used. The soundtrack album was produced by Benny Andersson. Featured songs are for example ‘Thank you for the Music’, ‘One of Us’ and ‘SOS’ as well as classics like ‘Waterloo’, ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Dancing Queen’ and ‘Super Trouper’.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again tells the story how Sophie plans a big reopening of her mother’s hotel on the Greek island Kalokairi after Donnas death the year before. The movie also includes flashbacks from the year 1979, revealing the stories how Donna met Sophie’s three possible fathers, Sam Carmichael, Harry Bright and Bill Anderson, and how she came to Kalokairi. Sophie also meets her grandmother Ruby, makes up her relationship with Sky and gives birth to her first son. The movie is ending like Mamma Mia! The Movie with a huge party at the hotel, including all characters singing ‘Super Trouper’.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is described as ‘…everything fans loved about the original’. If you liked the first movie and also music from the band ABBA, I am sure you will also like this follow-up.
