Feta with Honey

Today we will present you a dish that can be both an appetizer and a dessert. It is called 'φέτα με μέλι' which translates to feta with honey. The combination of salty feta, crispy phyllo and the sweet honey sauce will absolutely blow your mind. On top of that the dish is also really easy to prepare, but takes about 40 minutes. The measurements given are for 4 portions.

Ingredients:

  • 4 blocks of feta cheese

  • 4 sheets of phyllo pastry

  • 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds

  • 4 tablespoons of honey

  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

  • olive oil

  • water

Start by drying the feta with paper towels. Then proceed to cut the phyllo pastry sheets in half and brush them with olive oil. Stack two pieces of the phyllo pastry sheets on top of each other and wrap them around the feta cheese. Fill a pan about half a centimeter with olive oil and heat it at high heat. Fry the feta from both sides until golden and crispy, then drain them on kitchen paper.

In the meantime add water, vinegar and honey into another pan, bring it to a boil and stir. Let it boil until the desired consistency is reached.

Drizzle some of the honey sauce onto the feta and sprinkle some sesame seeds. Serve while still hot.

Enjoy your meal!
