Like every Monday, you have the chance to discover a new artist on chiosradio.gr. Today, I would like to present you the band ‘King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’. It is an Australian rock band, well known for their enormous output and their energetic live performances.

The seven band members, namely Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny Smith, Joey Walker, Cook Craig, Lucas Skinner, Michael Cavanagh and Eric Moore, know each other since school. At first, they only jammed together until a friend invited them to play at a show in 2010. Since then, ‘King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’ released 21 singles and 13 albums. Most of their music videos and all of the album art is created by the artist Jason Galea.

Their goal in 2017 was to release five albums within one year. One of the albums, ‘’ is completely free to download. They say about that album the following: ‘We do not own this record. You do. Go forth, share, enjoy.’

The band experimented a lot and used for example unusual techniques to record their music. They recorded their first full length album completely by themselves and recorded their vocals with four iPhones.

‘King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’ is a rock band, but their style changes a little bit with each album and you can find almost everything from psychedelic rock to garage rock, acid rock and progressive rock in their songs. I invite you now to listen to their song ‘Loyalty’.
