Roza of Smyrna

I have a brand new movie recommendation for you this week. Rosa of Smyrna was released in 2017 and directly became a blockbuster in both Greece and Turkey with filming in Constantinople, Smyrna, Mytilene and Athens.

Here is a brief overview of the storyline:

Everything starts with the collector from a renowned Athenian museum called Dimitris. Dimitris usually searches for artefacts in the lost city of Smyrna. In a small antique shop in Izmir (Turkey) he stumbles upon three historic curiosities: an old photograph, a wedding-dress stained with blood and a letter.

Curios about his findings Dimitris starts searching and gets to know the enigmatic , who has been holding the weight of this well-kept secret on her shoulders for decades. Trying to uncover the truth his way leads him to the tragic family-story of Rozas' past.
