Today I want to present you Kostas Karamitroudis who is better known as “Gus G.”.
He is a famous Greek Metal guitarist. His band is named “Firewind” but he also has started a solo career since 2014. He is known for playing for Ozzy Osbourne and guest spots with bands like Arch Enemy.

At the age of 10 he started playing the guitar after being inspired by Peter Frampton (“Frampton Comes Alive”), a British rock musician. When Gus got his first electric guitar at the age of 14 he practised 8 to 11 hours a day! He finally got a scholarship for the Berklee college of music in Boston but stopped it quickly again.

In 1998 he founded his power metal band “Firewind”. Together with Henning Basse (vocals), Bob Katsionis (keyboard), Petros Christo (bass guitar) and Jo Nunez (drums) Gus just released another album in 2017, called “Immortals”. All in all, the band already released 10 albums since its foundation.

But Firewind is not Gus’ only band. He also collaborated with Mystic Prophecy and Dream Evil as well as many guest spots in different bands like for example Arch Enemy. From 2009 to 2017 he also was the guitarist of Ozzy Osbourne’s solo band.

All those projects and bands do not seem to be enough for Gus, he also released his debut solo album “I Am The Fire” in 2014. On 20th of April this year his second album is planned to come out. His solo project differs from the music he makes with Firewind. So his first album for example appears with more classic rock influences. For the album he had a lot of guest musicians like Dave Ellefson from Megadeth and Michael Starr from Steel Panther.

So in my opinion Gus G is a very interesting musician who does not seem tired to put effort in producing music due to the fact that he has so many projects running. I really can recommend you listening to his music.
