... wind would not exist?

The island of Chios is the fifth biggest island in Greece and a beautiful place. I would say it’s perfect here if it only would not be so windy all the time!
For me wind is something annoying in the spring here. It could be a sunny and warm day.. But because of the wind, it feels cold outside and you are not comfortable.

So, what if wind would not exist?
Stupid question! Without wind everything would be better! These March days would feel always like summer and you could sit outside enjoying the sun.
But wait! Is it really that simple?
No, of course not. Maybe in these spring days no wind would be nice, but imagine the hot summer without even a little bit of wind. It would also be impossible to fly a kite, to sail, to windsurf, to generate wind energy and many more things. So you see, that there are many negative effects that would appear instantly.
And there effects that are much worse, that would come after some time. Clouds move because of wind and clouds carry sweet water that evaporated from lakes or the sea and carry it all over the areas far from lakes and the sea and rain their water down there. If clouds could not move because wind would not exist, water would evaporate over lakes and stay there. All other places would simply dry out and life that is not next to lakes with sweet water would end. No plants or animals would survive and also we humans would barely have enough sweet water to live on.
Wind may be annoying sometimes but in the end, it keeps us all alive and protects this planet from drying out and becoming a big desert.
