Locomondo

Locomondo is one of the most famous and successful Greek bands. They create reggae music mixed with traditional Greek music elements and with Greek lyrics. Some of the classic Greek instruments they use are the bouzouki, the baglama, the violin, the Tsampoura, which can be described as Greek bagpipe and the Cretan Lyra.

The band consists of six band members and the main songwriter and composer Markos Koumaris.  They are active since 2004 and have published eight albums until today.

The bands most known song is “Den kani kryo stin Ellada” which can be translated to “it is not cold in Greece”. Furthermore, their song “goal” became the unofficial soundtrack of the Greek national football team. In 2010 the band recorded a reggae cover of the popular German song “Griechischer Wein”, which means “Greek vine” in English.

Locomondo is also known for supporting many environmental and humanitarian organizations such as “Greenpeace”, “Amnesty International”, “A21” or “Shedia”, the Greek homeless street paper.
