Semolina Halva
Today, we present you a light dessert that will rock your world after just one piece.
Semolina Halva is traditional Greek Speciality for which you will need:
2 cups of sugar
3 cups of water
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 cup of canola oil
1 cup of semolina
1/4 cup of slivered almonds
1/8 cup of walnuts or additional slivered almonds
1/8 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
First step is to combine sugar, cinnamon and water and fry them on a pan over medium heat. Cook for about 3 minutes until sugar dissolves. Be careful and don’t let it become to thick! On another pan, on medium-low heat, brown the semolina. Be careful and don’t burn it! After about 8 minutes (so about in the middle of your work) add almonds on the pan.
Don’t turn off your heat! When you achieve the right colour of dark sand, pour the content of the first pan into the one with semolina. Keep mixing it all together, let it bubble. The mixture needs more less 20 minutes to be ready.
Next put it into the mold and leave it until it cools. Good idea is to cover it with the kitchen towel. In the meanwhile you can crush the walnuts and almonds to decorate the halva with it.
