When in Greece do as Greeks do and dance. OPA!

There's a famous proverb: when in Rome,do as the Romans do. Here on Chios Island we could say when in Greece do as Greeks do and dance.
Last Saturday we had the pleasure to attend greek dancing classes in Nenita, and of course- if was great. There are classes for kids, teenagers and adults one after another and we've gone to all of them. The difference? Well steps would get more and more complex the older the students were and also the adult dancers would taste a little wine during the break. Fantastic, right? :)

Evzoni uniform

The Evzoni or Evzones is the name of the historical elite of the Greek Army.
Nowadays they guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Athens and they are members of the Presidential Guard. They take part in all military parades.

Agia Markella or Saint Markella was an inhabitant of Chios and is a really revered saint, it is said that her icon is miraculous. Saint Markella was born and lived in Volissos during the 14th Century. She was raised as a Christian by her mother and when she died Agia Markella kept living her life according with the values that her mother taught her.
