Lemnos

This week we will go for a journey to an Island located in the north of the Aegean Sea. Lemnos is a volcanic place. Although it does not have any forests, it is filled with extensive fertile fields cultivated with vineyards and cereals. It is also a place full of stunning clean beaches. Lemnos island is not touristic, and remains a secluded place even in the high season, so it is ideal for a relaxed vacation. On the island are mountainous villages and interesting archaeological sites.

Mythology says that Lemnos was the island where the god Hephaestus had his copper workshop. This is why a town called Ifestia was built on the island to his honor. Lemnos is a fantastic place for totally private holidays and relaxation. The beaches are vast and have gorgeous sand and crystal water. The eastern side is getting popular among windsurfers.
I would like to mention also the capital and main port of the island, Myrina. It is a marvelous village where on the top of the mountain you can admire the Byzantine Castle which has a rich history and beautiful views. This place has clear and sandy beaches and when you are thirsty or starving, there are plenty of taverns and restaurants along the waterfront.
Lemnos is an Island which you should visit. There is a peaceful and calm atmosphere which allows you relax and have a nice vacation, and it is also good for sightseeing, because Lemnos has a long and interesting history which can surprise you.
