Buses

Many of us use them everyday, we are used to them and are annoyed when they are late, there are too many people inside or they are just not coming. I’m talking about buses. For the non-drivers between us they are very useful and are good for the environment. But did you ever think about who invented them?

The first bus was used in the 17th century in Athens, Greece and was driven by donkeys. Later in the 19th century they evolved the existing bus types and invented a steam- bus. The evolution of buses went on, from the donkey-bus, to the steam-bus and finally to the petrol-bus, which is nowadays used almost everywhere in the world. The newest bus type is the eco-bus, driven by electricity and therefore better for the environment. Bus types are still evolving today and there are many different ones. Even mixtures between buses and trams exist. In Greece they helped to ameliorate to connect small villages and to transfer goods and post.

 

Solution:

The story is wrong. The first buses where used in the 17th century in France and were driven by horses. In Greece buses were introduced in the 19th century.
