... we could jump into movies?

Imagine you could jump into the movie Titanic and save Jack from drowning. Or tell Rose that she should leave her fiancé earlier. Imagine you could change any movie scene you don’t like just by jumping into the movie and acting there as you like it. What would you do?

I think almost everybody has one favorite movie which was destroyed by only one scene where you are stressed out by the acting of the main characters and you would love nothing more than go to them and tell them your opinion. Or you would like to save your favorite character from dying. I mean there are so many dramatic deaths in film history. Some of the fictitious characters are even so interesting that you just would like to spend some time with them. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

But if everybody could just change the storyline of every movie we would not have the masterpieces we have today. What is Titanic without the tragedy of Jack’s death? We would not have this melancholic feeling each time we watch it. One possibility could be that everybody changes only his version of the film and the original one remains as it was. This could support pupil’s creativity and create many versions of the same story. And with a ‘reset’ button everybody can change the story as many times as he or she wants.

The current opportunities to change a film’s storyline or to live the story by ourselves are video games. But of course this is not the same feeling than talking face to face with the protagonists. Until the technology is ready to give us such a possibility we have to put up with those games if we want to.
