Fireworks

In this week for our speak if it’s Greek I will talk about fireworks!
Fireworks had always been a fascinating spectacle. They arouse emotions that you can hardly describe.
But what are they and what is the origin of fireworks?

The existence of the fireworks is linked to the existence of the rockets and the gun powder.
The fireworks are chemical substances that can lead to explosive reactions with light and sound phenomena, and typically produce smoke. The study of methods for the preparation and use of these substances is called pyrotechnics.

The history of the fireworks started long time ago, and it began on the island of Chios.
Around the 12th century in Chios, it was customary to celebrate Easter in ways very sumptuous, and after some time as well as a time of celebration and homage, this became also a challenge in finding the most beautiful entertainment for the whole population. After a few years since the beginning of this custom, two brothers were known for imagination and originality and they became soon famous for their amazing performances.
A day, after an accident, there was an explosion that provoked beautiful lighting effects. After several attempts, the two brothers were able to figure out what substances were necessary to produce again that magnificent visual effect.
Their thirst for glory took them to compete every year to know who was the best, and they began to shoot the fireworks against each other. After some time, this wonderful performance became a famous tradition of the island, later known as the rocket war.
