Nyfes

Nyfes is a Greek movie directed by Pantelis Voulgaris in 2004. This movie is a drama film and romance.
The story are talking about times in 1922, when was the Greco- Turkish War and the Russia Civil War, a mail order bride who are going to America to get married with immigrants because they wanted trough correspondence with them.

The bride Eleni returns from the United States to Samothrace, since she has not adapted to the life in America. Her sister Niki replace her and travels aboard the SS King Alexander to New York to marry the Greek immigrant in Chicago. Nikki is a hard worker and works sewing along the trip for the passengers and crew. She becomes a leader of the brides and discovers the scheme of the crook Karabulat from Georgia with the Russian brides.
During journey Niki also falls in love with an American photographer . The movie showed how different are their lives and their destiny but they found each other even it was just for a moment and was truly. But Niki is committed and she knows the consequences with her family if she would run away with Norman, her love. So this movie talk about unhappy love which cannot survived because for Niki was more important good name her family than her happiness.
