Irakleia

Represented by its beautiful,sandy beaches, dense vegetation, natural springs,smooth hills,crystalline water and scenic bays, Irakleia with Schoinoussa, Koufonisi, Donoussa, and Keros islands form the “small Cyclades”.

 Irakleia is part of the Cyclades, situated between the islands of Naxos and Ios.

Formed by 141 inhabitants, it owns the biggest caves in the Cyclades and many unknown rock paintings dated 5000 years specially “Bousoules” (maybe used as orientation mark), an ancient fortress in Livadi dated 4th century B.C.

The island had been property of Hozoviotissa Monastery” in Amorgos.

Beyond the Agios Ioannis' cave there are the remains of a crashed World War II plane.

It's possible reach it by ferries from Athens, Naxos and Paros.

About the food you should try the crafts production of cheese and yogurt.
