The Dust of Time

This Greek drama has been written and directed by Theodoros Angelopoulos in 2008 (Greece).

It is the second part of the triology: “The Weeping Meadow”.

The starring is formed by: Willem Dafoe (A), Irene Jacob (Eleni), Michel Piccoli (Spyros) and Bruno Ganz (Jacob).

 

 An American film director called “A” receives a phone call from his daughter at the Cinecitta' studio.

Then, he came back to his flat in Rome, where he discovered an interesting letter from his mother (Eleni) to his father (Spyros) dated in 1956.

The central topic of the movie is the love triangle and friendship between Eleni, Spyros and Jacob through the years.

The Dust of Time was prized in 2008 in Thessaloniki International Film Festival and was shown at the 59th Berlin International Film Festival.

It was also well appreciated by critics, in fact, Dan Fainaru of “Screen International” describe this movie like:”The most affecting and personal film in years”and Peter Brunette of”The Hollywood Reporter” wrote:”a curios mixture of the brilliant and absurd”.
