Delos

Delos is a small island in the Cyclades archipelago, just a few miles away from cosmopolitan Mykonos. The great particularity of Delos is the huge quantity of monuments and archaeological sites it has on its soil. The excavations in the island are among the most extensive in the Mediterranean.

Delos bears traces of Aegean civilization from 3rd millennium BC. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The island is uninhabited but attracts many tourists and archaeology-lovers, who want to get lost in the ancient world for one day.

Mythology tells that Delos is where the god of light, Apollo, was born.

And this rendered the island sacred: no mortal would ever be allowed to be born or die on its land.

Therefore, women on the brink of childbirth and people close to dying would be carried to a neighbouring island. The whole of the known world of that age was aware of the sacredness of the island and of its uniqueness.

It is for sure a place worth visiting, which will be able to take you to the greatness of the ancient Greek Civilization. Landscapes and sea are beautiful, also.

If you like culture, history and unique experiences, Delos is waiting for you!
