... there will be only English language?

Language is always going to be a contentious issue, bound as it is to questions of culture and identity.

Whilst there are 24 official languages in the EU, studies suggest that almost 40% of Europeans speak English as a foreign language. That’s almost four times as many foreign language speakers as either of the next most popular languages in Europe, French and German. And the English language is only growing, not just in Europe but around the world.

Thankfully, fears that English will become the world’s only language are premature. Few are so pessimistic as to suppose that there will not continue to be a multiplicity of nations and cultures on our planet and, along with them, various languages besides English. It is difficult, after all, to interrupt something as intimate and spontaneous as what language people speak to their children. Who truly imagines a Japan with no Japanese or a Greece with no Greek? The spread of English just means that earthlings will tend to use a local language in their own orbit and English for communication beyond.

But the days when English shared the planet with thousands of other languages are numbered. But unless the language is written, once a single generation no longer passes it on to children whose minds are maximally plastic, it is all but lost. We all know how much harder it is to learn a language well as adults.

One of the fear of Speaking in English it that can make you forget your country.

The English Language won't rob you of your culture. You can still speak your own language anytime. The only reason why we have English as a universal language is for us to communicate with each other. This does not mean that French, Filipino, Chinese, Spanish languages are less beautiful than English. Speaking in English won't mean you forget your own country. You must understand that this world needs us, the human race, together. Let us not start a World War III just because of an argument about whose language deserves to be the primary language. We need to understand each other, that's what matters.
