As Greek As It Gets

When you are craving for an entertainment that provides you with all components that make up a good romance, you should necessarily keep an evening free for watching “As Greek as it gets” which will be released in the cinemas this summer.

The title of the movie we are going to introduce you says actually already everything abut the film’s content that transfers us as much of the beauty and magic of the Greek culture and the country itself as possible.

However, the story begins in the first place in New York and describes the unsatisfying life of Mike Metaxas who has indeed the appearance of a Greek Adonis, but is actually working in a Greek family – business as burger flipper. While doing that his day-dreams turn to the Greek sailing-legend Aristotle Onassis. The whole story comes about when Mike meets Sarah – a beautiful woman with whom (of course) he is falling in love with. It’s love on a first sight when both characters recognize each other on a luxurious party in Long Island. Being overwhelmed by Sarah’s appearance, he pretends to be Pavlos Demakis – a famous, wealthy ship-owner. From now n it is getting a little bit more complicated for our protagonist. Mike is afraid of getting exposed and therefore he really decides to buy a plane ticket to the amazing Greek Island Mykonos. There, he tries to make money out of a decommissioned old ferry for playing his new role as rich man convincingly and for realizing his dreams. But then suddenly his plans get again whirled up when Sarah is coming to Greece with her fiancé Brad and the wannabe-ship-owner is busy with winning her heart, hiding behind is masquerade and earning money with his new acquisition.

You can probably imagine that this storyline guarantees a lot of laughter, hilarious, but also romantic and cute moments. The impressive location of Mykonos provides the perfect atmosphere for that Modern Greek fairytale. The producers Alexandra Yacovlef and Alexia Melocchi who have both their roots in Greece and already worked on the successful movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, ensure an authentic cultural image of this Southern-European-country and its inhabitants. The director Jim Fall and the writers Helene and Peter Paroulakis -whose family has as well Greek ancestries -wanted to  show the uniqueness and prettiness of Greece in present times when the public focus is more directed on is economic problems and its natural, social and cultural attractiveness falls into oblivion.

So be ready to get charmed by that amusing story, touching moments and the stunning scenery of Mykonos!
