... humanity did not exist?

The oceans, the forests and of course the inhabited areas of the Earth: no matter where you go, almost everywhere you will see some kind of human interference. Seeing this I always wonder, what the Earth and its ecosystem would be like if humans did never exist here?

First of all, there would be obviously no roads, no cars, no cities and no vehicles that drive swim or fly around. Only plain nature with lots and lots of forest and large populations of animals.

Since thousands of years the human race is an essential part of the earth and crowned itself to the superior race over all the others. So without any human being, would just another animal race be superior and rule and occupy the world like we have been doing it and will continue for centuries? Or maybe today’s existing animals would just live in a more or less peaceful coexistence side by side.

If you put this thought experiment into the context of the currently happening climate change, a human-free planet would probably have no melting ice caps and completely polluted waters. But of course every debate has two sides, as some scientists today claim that the global warming is at least partly natural and would happen anyway. No matter if the climate change would be happening in a world without humans or not, the Earth’s surface would definitely look completely different!

One thing is for sure: Instead of 7 billion people, there would be a larger number of animals. So imagine that: Looking around, everywhere would be different animals, some that we know today and most likely also many that are not existing in our world. Huge flocks of birds would fly around, so big that they cover the sky completely. ¬

But then: what makes us think that not another species would start developing some kind of intelligence which makes them produce their own tools, improve their homes and taking advantage of other animals. Maybe by today dogs would live in proper houses and cruise around in little dog cars, who knows!

In any case the world would be so different from ours and would be quite interesting without mankind. For now lets just enjoy our human filled world and appreciate it, but of course we also have to take care of it and protect all the other inhabitants as well as ourselves!
