... nobody needed to sleep?

“Whaaaaat, already 11 o’clock?” I’m sure I’m not the only one who has this thought every Weekend, when there is no alarm clock waking us up earlier. This always makes me think how much more time we would have, if we wouldn’t have to sleep at night.

There is a study that says humans spend in average one third of their life sleeping! Imagine that: if you get 90 years old, you would have spent 30 years only for sleeping.

So let’s think about it: What if nobody needs to sleep?
That would add at least 6 more hours to every working day! We could read more, study more, do more sports and take more time for everything, because we can use all 24 hours of each day. Also on the Weekends and Holidays the people like me would not waste half of the day with sleeping but could be productive or spend more time with their friends and families.
Well, that is at least one side. If we are really honest for a moment, I guess with six hours more per day most people would just spend more time with hanging around and doing lazy stuff like watching movies and listening to music.
Not to forget the economical aspect: Without the need to sleep there is no use for beds, hotels and sleeping medicine so those people would need another profession. Selling sofas instead of beds or something like that.

And last but not least: Sleep is a wonderful thing; you just have to close your eyes and tadaaa welcome to Dreamland. Sometimes a couple hours of sleep are the best solution for problems. It is really nice for body and soul to just lie down, do nothing and forget everything for a few hours.
