A very tasty Greek recipe is called Baklava. We present it to you with some honey syrup. Put on your nicest cooking dress that we can start as soon as possible.
At first you have to collect all the ingredients.
• 3/4 cup sesame seeds
• 400g walnuts. It will be good if they are already chopped.
• 1/4 cup cinnamon
• 8 sheets filo pastry
• 100g butter that is melted
For the Honey syrup you need:
• 1 very small lemon
• 2 cups of sugar
• 1/2 cup of honey
• 1 cinnamon stick
• 6 whole cloves
At first you have to preheat the oven to 200°C. Then put the sesame seeds in a pan and heat them up with the medium heat. Afterwards, when they are gold brown and toasted you put them in a bowl. Add the walnuts and cinnamon and mix it. Afterwards you have to brush 1 pastry sheet with butter and fold to a rectangle. For a better taste you can put a bit of the walnut mixture over the pastry. You bake the baklava for 10 to 12 minutes until they are golden.
Now you just have to make the honey syrup. Peel the small lemon and put a half of the juice in a glass. The rest you mix with lemon rind, lemon juice, sugar, honey, cinnamon stick, cloves and 2 cups water in a small pan. Tip: use the medium heat. Cook it for 5 minutes. Let it calm down a little bit and pour the honey syrup over the cold baklava. For a better taste you leave it for 30 minutes. Afterwards you can eat it with your family and friends.
