Four undertakers in financial trouble latch onto a one-off opportunity to change their lives and get rid of their unwanted job - an occupation they got involved in as a temporary money-maker but ended up stuck with.
On the promise of a large fee,they fulfill the dying wish of a Greek who lived his life abroad: He wants them to carry his body from Athens to a small village in Viotia for burial and all this, by foot.
Deciding to grant his bizarre request, they embark on an odyssey which soon becomes an unexpected voyage of discovery and self-awareness.


Background and Director's Statement:

“We live in a culture that detests death and, thus, detests the dead themselves.”
The departed should disappear as quickly as possible; but not the dead guy in Renos Haralambidis film, he doesn’t want to go before fulfilling one last homecoming journey to where his heart leads him – even though it is no longer beating.
The film is a road movie on a coffin. An odyssey of a dead Ulysses, whos fellow-pallbearers don’t even knew him alive.
In the end those four pallbearers and the mysterious dead guy each return, to where each of them really belongs.

All in all it's a story about four different solitary men, who in reality are more afraid of life than death itself.
During their journey they perceive maturity and shall come to a personal catharsis through revealing all secrets, shedding all tears and living all fears.
By the dead guy which they are carrying shall be taught that, even as we carry death on our shoulders, life still takes us where it will.
