Mate (Matthias Lechner): Morning Light

Mate (Matthias Lechner) is a singer/songwriter from Trier, Germany. He wrote & released his first EP “Chasing Memories” in early 2006 with the help of producer Rafael Haymann.

In the following years, he mainly played acoustic sessions with the guitarist Christoph Ball & collaborated with various other musicians.

In 2009, he teamed up with songwriter & producer Johannes Bühler. With the support of his new writing partner, he created the songs for his second EP “Every Now and Again” which they released in early 2012.

“Morning Light” and “Aimless Journeys” were both featured on two German radio stations (SWR DASDING / bigFM).

Furthermore "Morning Light" won the Streetlight - Media/Berlin competition.

The song "Ellen" was remixed worldwide. Leitbur from Los Angeles, California, contributed the best mix (voted via Facebook).

In 2011, Mate founded the band “Civilianz”, an alternative project based in Trier, Germany. Furthermore he decided to work on the new Singer / Songwriter LP "Shut Down at Midnight" with songwriter & producer Martin Ferring.

The result will be released under the name "Martin & Mate" in 2013.

The album "Reflections" is a collaboration between US - American guitarist Matthew McGhee & Mate.

After listening to Matthew's work, Mate decided to contact the talented guitarist and they agreed on the project. With his former producer Johannes Bühler, Mate arranged the track and added lyrics. The recording took place in between the "Every Now and Again" sessions.

The music of "mate (M8)" stands for a variety of styles, therefore it seems quite hard to narrow it down specifically.

Starting in 2005, he experimented and worked with many different musicians all around the world.
