Soul Kitchen

This mixture of drama and comedy has been directed and written by Fatih Akin together with Adam Bousdoukos and it was published on the 17th of December 2009 in Greece.

The Greek-born Zinos (Adam Bousdoukos) has a restaurant which is called "Soul Kitchen" in Hamburg, Germany. The restaurant is not really famous for its food. When Zinos' girlfriend Nadine (Pheline Roggan) decides to move to Shanghai to enhance her occupational skills, Zinos wishes to move with her and tries to sell the "ramshakle" restaurant. Additionally, Zinos has a restrictive disc prolapse.

After hiring the eccentric genius cook Shayn everything begins to change: The new menu scares away the regulars- but now the "Soul Kitchen" is developing gradually to a current, "hip" local in Hamburg and works better than ever before. Zinos has to decide now if he still wants to sell the restaurant. Moreover he has his brother Illias (Moritz Bleibtreu) stuck around him, since Illias is in custody, but is free to leave the prison on the weekend. In order to expand this 'freetime', all his brother needs is a verification of a regular employment. With Zinos being the owner of a restaurant, Illias hopes that he will give him a regular employment, though he does not intend to do real labour.

These different characters (Birol Ünel, Anna Bederke, Lucas Gregorowicz) render a special touch about family, loyality, love and real friendship to the movie.

The movie nicely balances the various funny moments and the more serious ones. This is the exact reason why the ChiosRadio-team recommends this movie.

Therefor we wish you a lot of fun watching this movie and good appetite, as the movie will feed your appetite on the real life for sure.
