Unfair World

Film directed by Filippo Tsitos in 2011.

Sotiris (Antonis Kafetzopoulos) is a detective working for the police in Athens, and he is far too willing to believe that everybody is guided by good intentions. One day he decides to switch to vigilante justice, solely deciding if someone goes to prison or is released from custody, by only relying on his own perception of justice. Sotiris becomes constantly more and more disappointed in humanity, which is presumably the reason why he drinks himself into a stupor each night.
When he kills a corrupt security man in order to prove the innocence of an inmate, the cleaning woman Dora (Theodora Tzimou) is the only witness of his crime. And while the honest Sotiris falls in love with the ruthless Dora, he does not realize that his boss increasingly suspects him to be the murder.

Tsitos won the award for Best Director and Antonis Kafetzopoulos won the award for Best Actor at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. Unfair world has been selected as the Greek entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards.
