Scylla

It's time for our famous guessing game. In the following description I will tell you some information about a creature and you have to guess if its from the Greek mythology or not. In the end of this article you find the solution button. Ready? Okay let's start.

The name of this weeks' creature is Scylla, a sea monster.
Originally Scylla was a beautiful maiden and she often played with nymphs of the sea. Once a marine god felt in love with her but a sorceress was jealous and threw magic herbs into the well in which Scylla was wont to bathe. By these herbs Scylla was metamorphosed, so that her upper part of her body remained that of a woman with still an unforgettable, beautiful face but the lower part was deformed into the nest of snarling dogs. Furthermore she sprouted a long, thick tail with scales and spikes like a dragon.

Scylla is known for her endless greed and ferocious strength. Her voice sounds like a hundred yapping dogs or braying hounds which can make the bravest sailors tremble with fear and can traumatize them for life.
The sea monster is living on the rocks of a narrow water channel. There are just fewer ships which don't end up being sunk by Scylla.
