Finn Anderson

This week, you will be introduced to a very talented Scottish musician : Finn Anderson. He is 24 years old, and composes an alternative pop/folk music. He was raised in Fife on the East Coast of Scotland.

Finn Anderson is also a theater maker. Indeed, when he was a teenager, he wrote theater plays and led the production at his local theater. He used the profits to build his first home recording studio when he was only 14 years old. Then, he recorded two EPs before leaving school, at 16 years old. After highschool, he studied Music at the University of Highlands and Islands and completed a Master in Musical Theater Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London. Moreover, he is a self taught pianist and accordionist.

His genre of music, quite lyrical, is inspired by theater and poetry. His knowledge led him into various universes : he has written two award-nominated musicals and composed music for numerous performance, film and art projects. His music, with his baritone voice, has been compared with Rufus Wainwright, John Grant and Antony and the Johnsons.

His last album called “Uncharted Lands” is a 4-track EP recorded in his childhood home, in rural Scotland. Finn Anderson spent the winter of 2015 and 2016 playing a House Concert Tour, performing intimate solo shows in living rooms throughout the United-Kingdom. He did that particular tour to share and gather stories, music, food and friendship. About this experience, he wrote that “Traveling to people's homes to meet their friends and share my songs is endlessly rewarding and reminds me of the potential for music to bring people together...”.

Before leaving you, I would like to propose to you to listen two of his songs : “Uncharted lands” and “Hitchcock”. I hope you will enjoy it !
