Tilos
Tilos is a small island in the Dodecanese , it's the seventh largest island of the archipelago, it is located at west of Rhodi where is possible to go for excursion.
Tilos has 64km² area and there were 535 people in 2001 .
Wild, rocky, mountainous but with some green valleys, rich in history and remains in ruins of its past history, Tilos is crossed by paths of the Ecological Park, nearly 35 kilometers, bordering a lot of Byzantine churches, some beautiful with frescoes exceptional, and linking the three villages on the island .The places that you should visit are :
-Micro Chorio- It's a small village where there are 200 houses. Completely abandoned in the 50s to 3 kilometers from the port. In the evening the ruins are illuminated and they create an unreal and attractive show .
-Misaria Fort- It was built in 1366 by the knights of St John .
-monastery of Agios Panteleimon- It was founded in 1470 in a cave, 450 meters above sea level, in a green valley and from here you can enjoy a beautiful view at sunset . Within this fortified structure are interesting frescoes .
-Castle of megalo Chorio- It has some parts in ruins but the view is beautiful. The walk to reach this place is 45 minutes .
-Carcadiò Caves- You can also visit Carcadiò caves with a great important paleontological interests, such as fossil bones of small elephants.
