Thassos

Thasos or Thassos is a green island geographically part of the North Aegean Sea, but administratively  part of the Kavala regional unit. It is the northernmost Greek island, and 12th largest, very close to the coasts of the mainland.

The villages surrounded by the mountains have traditional architecture, with stone houses, paved streets and grey-tiled roofs. The surrounding landscape is great for trekking with paths leading to the unknown places, castle ruins and caves. The most interesting place to visit in Thasos is the Ancient Agora, where the Monastery of Archangel Michael offers breathtaking view.

Thassos island impresses visitors with the crystal blue waters of the Aegean Sea and beautiful beaches. Paradise, Makriammos, Golden Beach, Rachoni,  Metalia and Livadi are only a few of the fabulous beaches in Thassos. Apart from gorgeous beaches, the island also has traditional food and local specialities. Peppered cabbage, tatarka or stuffed zuccini flowers and sardamakia, are only couple dishes you have to try while you visit the island. The Thassos is famous for their hospitality, tasty wine and magnificent honey. Also the giant marble factories, which export the snow white marble around the entire world, will fascinate you. For these and many other reasons holidays in Thassos are a great experience not only for families but also for romantic couples.
